Mission Statement and Land Acknowledgement

Mission Statement

The Toronto Anarchist Bookfair is a place for anarchists and those curious about anarchy to share space, exchange ideas, and build community. The Bookfair will include workshops, presentations, info tables, book sellers and social events. By creating a space to meet each other, share ideas and skills, and have conversations about anarchism and how it applies to our struggles, we hope to build a more connected, resilient movement in so-called Southern Ontario and beyond. The Bookfair collective aims to prioritize marginalized communities’ access to the space and make this event as accessible as possible.

Land acknowledgement

The Toronto Anarchist Bookfair is taking place on Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Huron-Wendat territories. We recognize the harm done by the ongoing occupation and colonization of these territories. As anarchists, it is imperative to challenge the existence of the Canadian state, and to work towards decolonization. It is also critical that we centre Indigenous voices in our work.
